I am very lucky to have met this family. They hail from the Upstate of South Carolina and while at the Isle of Palms on vacation, they asked if I would come take their family portraits. What made me lucky? They trusted me with their daughter who has Downs Syndrome. I have photographed my friend Lilly, who also had DS in previous sessions, here and here. They felt I would be their best choice in a photographer. Again, I’m the lucky one.
We had such a nice time, though the tide was high and the wind whipping, we got some amazing images! Honestly, I think that wind made mom’s hair look stunning, all windblown just the right way!
Brooks, is a great big brother to Reese. He was so caring and gentle. Just as all big brothers should be. He wasn’t too sure of me and why I kept following him around, but he was so sweet.
I really love my beach sessions and the opportunity to make new friends. I really love it when I meet someone like Reese, who touches my heart in a way that I can’t explain. Like I’m meeting someone I’ve known my entire life and just being reunited with them.
This family ended up purchasing a few prints for their wall. I can’t wait to see the final product. Which means I’m going to have to take a road trip! Schachtner’s, how does next week look for you? HA!
A huge thank you to the Schachtner family. Thank you for spending time with me!
